The hunt was a rifle hunt as part of Colorado’s Ranching For Wildlife Program. I met Joe and the guides the day before the hunt and obtained the required license/tag and then we checked our rifles at their rifle range. We hunted in sage brush covered rolling hills and coulees and saw hundreds of elk which were migrating down from the adjacent mountains onto the 12,000 acre private ranch we hunted. There was 6â€-10†of snow where we hunted and the guides were very familiar with the ranch and how to get within range of the numerous elk we saw. The guides worked hard and got me within range of a nice 5x5 bull elk on the second day of the hunt. All four hunters in our group tagged out in less than three days. I had a great time with Rocky Mountain Ranches! This is a very professional operation and Joe is an honest and very knowledgeable outfitter. I plan to return and hunt with him again in the near future. Bill Baughman ADDITIONAL INFO I recommend you practice shooting sitting down off sticks, and be ready for some really good food from area restaurants. RECOMMENDATION I highly recommend this hunt. If you time the weather right you have a chance to see more elk than you can imagine. We also saw dozens of mule deer and jack rabbits on this hunt.
