We looked at several places offering ranch hunts and after checking out RMR and talking to Joe, decided to try his outfit for an elk hunt. I sent in my deposit(I was paying for both of us)and a week later my hunting partner, my oldest brother, had a stroke which impaired his speaking and right side arm and leg. I considered cancelling, but contacted Joe instead. After explaining the situation, Joe said he had a really good ranch for us to hunt with my brothers condition. We did a first season Rifle Hunt, and let me tell you, it was everything Joe promised. There were places we sat my brother and we saw shooters(4 points or bigger) most of the days along with smaller bulls. We saw elk everyday in the areas where Joe told us they like to travel. While we did not harvest an animal, my brother and I had a great time. The Elk were bugling like crazy and even in his condition, my brother made calls and got the elk to answer. It was fun and exciting and in our minds, a very rewarding trip. Joe checked in with us personally via cell phone to see how we were doing and if we were having a good hunt. We also saw numerous Mule Deer, including a very nice 5x5 that was wide and tall. We are planning to do another trip as soon as we are able and maybe do an elk and deer combo.
